Comment Challenge is an anti-spam plugin which provides you with two very effective types of barriers to protect you from spammers:

1.  A beacon that must be submitted with the form cuts 
    down on nearly all automated spam

2.  An accessible CAPTCHA in the form of a customizable
    challenge question and expected response

REQUIREMENTS

* Ability to install plugins
* Permission to configure a blog and its plugins

This plugin has really saved us from a lot of head aches on our site. We actaully thought about moving away from MT but a friend pointed us in the direction of this plugin. And what can I say, it works. I wish we would have found it sooner. Thanks!
